H.E. Minister Frehiwot Tamru Sets Strategic Direction to Establish a Strong Legal and Institutional Foundation for the Innovation and Technology Talent Development Institute to Begin Delivering Services

H.E. Frehiwot Tamru, Minister of Innovation and Technology, along with her delegation, visited the Innovation and Technology Talent Development Institute in Burayu, conducting an in-depth review of the institutional gaps and operational readiness that have prevented the center from delivering its intended services since its inauguration four years ago.
The Minister underscored that bringing the Institute into operation extends beyond renovating buildings and equipping facilities; its strategic role must be clearly distinguished from conventional schools and universities to effectively identify, nurture, and empower youth with exceptional talent in STEM and technology from across Ethiopia to drive the nation’s digital transformation.
Furthermore, the Minister directed the immediate establishment of a steering committee to execute two core tasks in parallel: finalizing the necessary legal, organizational, staffing, and budgetary frameworks, while conducting a comprehensive inventory and facility readiness assessment to transition the Institute into full service delivery.
