Telegram post media A little language practice, every time you check your watch

We've released WordFace, a free watch face for Garmin. It shows a word and its translation alongside the time.

Choose a pair of supported languages and set how often the words change. Keep the translation visible, reveal it after a pause, or hide it and try to remember it yourself.

The screenshots show French and Estonian examples. Maltese isn't supported in this version.

WordFace works offline, with no account or subscription. A few words while waiting for the bus or checking the time between meetings: an easy way to fit vocabulary practice into your day.

Check the app page for compatible watches.

The afternoon session begins at 15:00 at Teatru Manoel in Valletta. Tickets are listed at €8–€15; check current availability with the venue before setting out.
Telegram post media A one-year deadline applies to Malta’s criminal injuries compensation

Malta’s official scheme covers citizens of Malta or another EU country and people habitually resident in Malta who suffer injuries from an intentional violent crime. The incident must be part of criminal proceedings or reported to the police without delay.

The application must be submitted within one year of the crime. The signed form goes to the Department of Justice with a birth certificate, police conduct certificate, police report, an affidavit confirming that no compensation was awarded for the same case, and supporting evidence such as medical certificates. A dependent may apply if the victim died as a result of the crime.
Telegram post media Folk Underground closes its Valletta season tonight 🎶

The final two performances take place at 7pm and 8:15pm in the underground vaults of Sala San Duminku on Merchants Street. The 45-minute programme brings together traditional Maltese għana, acoustic guitar and storytelling, with the stories also explained in English.

The setting is below street level and capacity is limited, so allow time to find the entrance and check ticket availability before heading into Valletta. The event is suitable for ages five and over.
Telegram post media How to check a doctor or dentist on Malta’s official register

The Medical Council Malta provides an online register search for doctors and dentists. It is the direct place to confirm whether a professional appears on the relevant register before arranging care.

The council notes that temporary registration lasts for one year and permits work only in a government health service setting under supervision. It is not the same as full registration. Specialist details are kept separately, so a general registration entry should not be read as proof of a specialist title.
Telegram post media Maltese folk tales get a live-piano retelling this week 📖

Traditional Maltese stories are being retold for children through live piano music and digital animation at the Malta Society of Arts in Valletta. The family performance forms part of the Three Palaces Festival, which runs from 27 October to 1 November.

The wider programme also places theatre, song and public talks inside historic buildings, including Verdala Palace, Palazzo Parisio, St Paul’s Cathedral and the Grand Master’s Palace. Families should check the festival programme for the exact storytelling session, age guidance and current ticket availability before setting out.
Telegram post media MySkills can refund part of an approved training course

People aged 15 or over who legally live in Malta may qualify to recover up to €5,000 in training costs through the MySkills Scheme. It is open to employed, unemployed and inactive applicants; self-employed people are excluded.

The course must appear in the official MySkills catalogue, cost at least €100 excluding VAT and be chosen voluntarily rather than required by law or an employer. Telegram post media Chamber music takes over Pjazza Teatru Rjal tonight 🎻

*Chamber Conversations*, part of Iljieli fit-Teatru Chamberfest, is at Pjazza Teatru Rjal in Valletta this evening, 26 October. The Janascharco Trio will perform music by Lauber, Schocker, Dring and Piazzolla, beginning at 19:30.

The concert is in the venue’s Green Room, with the entrance from Victory Street. Tickets cost €5; the smaller room makes this a more intimate event than a performance on the main outdoor stage.
Telegram post media A former tenant is still registered at your address: the official route

If a lease has ended, the landlord must first submit its termination to the Housing Authority. When post still arrives for someone who has moved out—or for an unknown person—the owner can then use Identità’s De-Registration of Address Form and attach the documents listed in section 5.

Changing an address with Identità does not update utility companies, Transport Malta, hospitals or other organisations automatically; the resident must notify each one separately. Identità says complaint documents are handled confidentially, although information may be shared with competent authorities where the law requires it.
Telegram post media Lost your Maltese ID card? Here is the replacement route

First file a police report. If the card was lost abroad, the report from the local authority must be in English and clearly show the ID-card number.

For the replacement, take the report to the Identity Cards Unit and submit Form ID10a. Identità issues Form ID9 as a temporary ID while the new card is being prepared; the temporary document must be returned when the replacement is delivered or collected.

The standard charge for replacing a lost card is €22. An urgent request costs €40 and is normally processed within one working day, with extra delivery time for Gozo.
Telegram post media Film music and virtuoso classics meet in Valletta tonight 🎻

Duo La Passione brings *Strings & Ivory* to the Concert Hall at Palazzo de La Salle this evening, 24 October. Violin and piano share a programme that moves between cinema themes and concert pieces, with the performance beginning at 19:00.

The venue is the Malta Society of Arts in Republic Street, Valletta. Anyone heading into the city for the concert should check the organiser’s latest ticket availability before setting off.
Telegram post media Guide: getting a Malta eID account

An eID account lets residents sign in to Malta’s online government services. It is available to Maltese citizens and eResidence document holders aged 14 or over.

Applications can be made at a Servizz.gov centre. You can also request the account when completing the eID section of form ID10 or ID10a at the Identity Cards Office in Blata l-Bajda or the Gozo Identity Cards Unit in Victoria. The official service page lists separate stages for submission, vetting and approval, and the activation link sent by email.

For eID help, Identità lists 2590 4300 and infoeid.identita@gov.mt.

Telegram post media A new exhibition follows Malta’s changing relationship with water 🎨

Miriam Galea’s solo exhibition *Għadajjar Għajnejja: Ebbs and Flows* opens today, 22 October, at Palazzo de La Salle in Valletta. The works look at water as both a physical presence and a carrier of memory, using the idea of ebb and flow to connect personal experience with the Maltese landscape.

The exhibition runs until 12 November at the Malta Society of Arts in Valletta. Today’s opening begins at 6:30pm and admission is free.
Telegram post media A restricted area is back at Pinto Wharf 5

Upgrading works have resumed at Pinto Wharf 5 and part of Lascaris Wharf in Grand Harbour. Transport Malta says the marked work zone is restricted immediately and is expected to remain in place until the end of March 2027.

Only authorised vessels for Pinto 4 and 5, plus vessels involved in the works, may enter. Other boat operators must stay at least 50 metres from the work area, proceed at very slow speed without wake and follow Valletta VTS instructions on VHF channels 12 or 16. Orange flashing buoys will mark the silt curtain around the site.
