Telegram post media 🌍

Telegram post media 🌍 Poetry Without Borders

On March 20, the UNESCO Chair at UlSPU united voices from China, Egypt, Ethiopia, Djibouti, Mauritius, Zimbabwe, Togo, Benin, Turkmenistan, and Panama for World Poetry Day—a celebration of language, childhood, and unity.

🎈 Dedicated to children’s poetry, the event honored the 120th anniversary of Agnia Barto and Russia’s Year of Preschool Education.

Guests heard timeless verses in Russian and native tongues—some performed by children, others as original works from Ethiopia, Djibouti, and Togo. A musical interlude by Chinese educator Yang Zi and student presentations on Russian children’s authors added depth to the evening.

✨ Dr. Farahan Jemal from Ethiopia shared his poem “Children of One World”:

“Though we come from different lands, we are all children of one world—meant to live in kindness and understanding.”

Over 70 participants, including 36 international guests, proved that poetry needs no translation to touch the heart.
Telegram post media On February 20th, upon the invitation of the Directorate of "Ulyanovsk — UNESCO City of Literature," international students from UlSPU, hailing from Africa, Asia, Panama, Benin, Togo, Egypt, Turkmenistan, and other countries, took part in the Maslenitsa festivities 🥞

Vibrant holiday events were organized for them at the A.S. Pushkin Children's Library No. 24, with the participation of the children's folklore ensemble "Zhikharka" from Children's Art School No. 7.
Together with the ensemble's performers, the students played traditional Russian games, sang the folk songs and danced to Russian folk tunes 🪗

The celebration concluded with a tea party featuring a tasting of traditional pancakes.

We extend our special gratitude to Elena Evgenievna Cherkas, Director of the UNESCO City of Literature, for the invitation to such a captivating event.
