Удивительно чего достигло человечество и великие умы нашей страны в 20-м веке! И посреди этих великих достижений науки и конструирования ракет, вдруг я увидел домашний интерьер с елкой, коврами, Чебурашкой и старым телевизором. В одно мгновенье я как-будто оказался в волшебной стране своего детства и почувствовал добрую атмосферу родного дома.

Рождество и Новый год традиционно являются домашними праздниками. Мы собираемся с близкими и родными, ходим друг другу в гости, готовим много вкусной еды, много кушаем и снова обсуждаем как похудеть 😉. Но для нас, людей веры, кроме родного дома есть еще и родная община - церковь 💒 . Именно в церкви каждый может почувствовать добрую атмосферу родного дома и чудесным образом окунуться в волшебную страну детства. Мы поем рождественские гимны, дарим друг другу подарки, радуемся и веселимся, снова много кушаем и уже не обсуждаем как похудеть. Благодарю Бога за наши дома и церкви, которые открывают свои двери для тех, кто одинок, нуждается в помощи, общении и поддержке, друзьях и наставниках. Благословений вам!

IN MEMORIAM OF BISHOP HANS VÄXBY (17.11.1944 - 30.03.2025). Dear brothers and sisters, yesterday morning, March 30, 2025, Bishop Hans Växby passed away in Helsinki. Friends and colleagues around the world are praying for his wife Kaikka Växby, for their two sons Henry and Anssi, and for their grandchildren. Bishop Hans has gone to heaven with peace in his heart and we thank God for such a wonderful servant.

Bishop Hans Växby lived a rich and interesting life. I am grateful to God that he and Kaikka served with us for a significant part of their life. At the initiative of our brothers and sisters in Eurasia, we asked Hans for the opportunity to nominate him as a bishop for the Methodist Church in Eurasia and in 2005 he was elected as our bishop. Before that, he had already had experience as a bishop in the Nordic and Baltic countries. He helped us a lot back in the early 1990s, when Methodism was just being restarted in Russia.

Many of us remember his serious and practical approach to ministry, his attention to people's problems, his down to earth openness and his strong faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. Hans was an example of a wise leader and mentor, a faithful disciple of Christ and a caring brother in faith. His dedication and spiritual disciplines inspired us - he regularly studied the Bible, prayed for us, preached the Gospel, lovingly sang Christian hymns and published articles on what it means to be a disciple of Christ.

I personally had the privilege of serving side by side with Hans during his entire term as bishop in Eurasia from 2005 to 2012. We often traveled together, discussed the joys and difficulties of our congregations, worked out strategy and discussed the peculiarities of the Russian and Swedish mentalities. It was a joyful and interesting time together.

I am grateful to Hans that he remembered me last week and I had the opportunity to tell him how much I love him and how much we in Eurasia love and miss him. Rest in peace, dear brother and mentor. God be with you until we meet again at the feet of Christ.

LENT PRAYER CHAIN. The 4th week of Lent has begun. During my visits to our local churches, I am glad that people collect donations or food to help those in need. I also hear many people say that they have given up certain foods or the Internet. I personally skip some meals - for example, breakfast - and devote more time to reading the Bible.

I am especially pleased with the Lent prayer chain in which many Methodist churches of Eurasia participate. Anyone can choose a 15-minute segment and sign up for a special table for prayer during 7 days of a certain week of Lent. Here are the cities and towns where the brothers and sisters offered prayers during the first three weeks of Lent:

Komsomolsk-on-Amur, Vladivostok, Kaliningrad, Voronezh, Tyumen, Ushtobe (Kazakhstan), Moscow, Yekaterinburg, Satka (Chelyabinsk region), Bakal (Chelyabinsk region), Saratov, Tomsk, Stepnoye (Saratov region), St. Petersburg, Engels (Saratov region), Stavropol, Otradny (Samara region), Samara, Mytishchi (Moscow region), Vladikavkaz, Luhansk, Kainda (Kyrgyzstan), Zelenograd-Moscow, Khabarovsk, Pushkin (St. Petersburg), Novotroitskaya (Stavropol region), Gatchina.

BISHOP’S CABINET is a regular meeting of district superintendents and the bishop. We meet twice a year in person, and also hold meetings online. district superintendents are the heads of districts. Each district has several parishes in which local pastors serve.

During the Bishop's Cabinet we spend time in prayer and reflection on the Word of God, trying to understand God's will for us. We also talk about the future of our Church and development strategy, the appointment of pastors to parishes and current problems.

This week we are together again to encourage each other in faith and move forward. I ask you to support us in prayer 🙏🏽.

And when I returned home, a week later I had a great desire to go again. It is such a graceful time, when you give and receive many times more, when you bathe in the love of Christ, dance, sing and rejoice despite any difficulties. And also squad presentations every night with dances and skits. I made my debut as a clown and I did not expect that I could improvise the whole script and improvise impromptu. There were difficulties in the camp, but together everything was overcome. And you realize that more and more hearts light up around for God. We gather a team of volunteers for next year and it is desirable from Moscow to go by car. And tentatively I propose to gather at my place in Yudino with overnight stay before the big road and go by caravan to Ramon. Need also help in the procurement of all sorts of things for the camp, supplies and accessories at the wholesale market in Moscow (Sadovod).Believe me, it is definitely two full cars. Come to serve and receive the grace of God! I think that all volunteers are heroes, at least for me. Can you imagine, after camp, special kids come home with their parents to their four walls and look forward all year long to the next one. Let's serve them together and let's work for the glory of God."

VOLUNTEER ZHANNA (SPECIAL CHILDREN5642). Friends, God richly blesses us and our ministry with special children. We were still on the road from Mineralnye Vody to Terskol on August 19th, when we learned the good news. Thanks to your generosity we have already collected over 540,000 rubles. We have 460,000 more to collect! We can do this by joining our efforts and expanding the circle of donors. "I finally made the trip to Voronezh for Camp Bethel-Salt. Till the last I was holding out with train tickets, and then I was advised to go by car (700 km). And I didn't regret it, especially since a wonderful sister from the church Elena joined me. And these cafes Pomponchik on the way - dumplings, okroshka and donuts on the way! The road is wonderful, but it's tolled. I got a joyful adrenaline from speeding back and forth and pleasure from Soviet food on the way. But the main thing, of course, is the spirit and joy of the camp. When you go out in the morning, salute everyone, give high-fives to each special child, hug them and they hug you and see the grateful faces of their parents. The days were very busy, the camp program did not let you relax. Each volunteer was not only a counselor of the squad, but also held master classes and cleaned the area, helped cooks, took out the trash, did a lot of things and still rocked at the evening disco. Debriefing every evening with the children and then with the team.

The weather was favorable and we swam every day in the river. There was a good angel post delivery through the envelopes on the stand and every day you found something tasty and messages. And the first message for me was a request to come back next year. I said to myself - no way, I'm sick of the heat and mosquitoes.
And when I returned home, a week later I had a great desire to go again.

SPECIALKIDS5642 (HOW TO SUPPORT). Friends! I am participating in fundraising campaign for ministry with special children (with autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, etc.). From August 19-29, 2024, our group is going to Elbrus! My goal is to bring awareness about special children, their families, and the volunteers who serve them. Our brothers and sisters volunteers serve them in Voronezh, Russia. Every year our sisters and brothers volunteers come to serve with special children in Voronezh where we hold two retreats “SALT” and “BETHEL”. Our goal is to raise 1 million rubles (approximately $13,500). This will make it possible to hold programs for special children and their families next year.

During and after our climbing to Elbrus, I will be making posts about special children (when good internet access will be available). Several families have shared their stories so that you can learn about them, pray for them and support them with your donations.
